About Us
I’m Margaret McGaffin, the filmmaker behind Avante Video, based in Gilford, Northern Ireland.
My work is inspired by the landscapes, walks and stories that shape this island – from peaceful canal paths and mountain trails to historic villages and remarkable places connected to Ireland’s past.
My journey into filmmaking began in an unexpected way, when I answered a call to take part in a documentary training programme for local television. When I received the call to join the programme, it became my real ‘aha’ moment.
During the making of the documentary, I had the opportunity to work alongside professional television crews in both camera and editing departments. That experience opened the door to working on a range of film and television projects and ignited a passion for visual storytelling that has stayed with me ever since.
Today, through Avante Video, I create cinematic stories that capture the atmosphere and character of the places I visit – from historic landmarks and hidden corners to beautiful walking trails and the towns and villages that surround them.
My aim is simple: to share the landscapes, heritage and experiences that make exploring Ireland so special, and to inspire others to discover these places for themselves.
Along the way, I also work with accommodation providers and local businesses who want to tell their own story through video. I help them showcase not just their property, but the wonderful experiences guests can enjoy when they visit.
